Mackey Station

It is wonderful plein air weather, so Mary and I went on a road trip scouting for locations. We painted this scene at sunset, because we liked the design.
'Tomorrow I am leaving for Hamburg Germany...back in October. Will definitely sketch and take photos.

Potato Art: Potato Day

Whoops, he/she/it saw a shadow...it was sunny here today. Well, I am getting fanciful....this is the potato that sort of looked like a groundhog............in my reality.

The One Mug


Mary came to paint today, and it is always such an enriching experience to share the process. We discussed our way through the highlights and the mistakes. There seems to be a bit of a tilt, amazing how that happens! I am increasingly aware of how important it is to have good drawing basics.

Sherwood River

Each summer, the children would set out from the cottage on Round Lake by canoe to explore this favourite little river. An old spruce tree had turned red as it dries, and stumps and logs could be found to maneuver around, and often wildlife was seen. I did this quick study from a photo.

Hot Fruit


The set up had a shiny rusty orange fabric as background and so the reflections became very bright. The bowl was difficult and still looks a bit off. But it was fun to paint - lots of up energy.
